Surge pauses on long hikes in hiking gps mode

On my last two long hikes my surge has somehow gone into pause mode during a strenuous climb or hike. I am assuming the pause button is being hit while bush whacking or activated by wrist articulation during climbs. Is there a way to lock the screen once a hike is started? Its frustrating!

Put it on your other wrist. Make sure you change the setting that you are wearing it on other arm. I used to do this with my Garmin as I kept pushing the stop button when bending my wrist.
