Welcome to the Fitbit Forums @Nicola94! This is completely weird. However, when you remove your tracker from the wrist it takes some seconds to get rid of the number it got when you were wearing. I'd definitely try restarting your Surge by following these instructions just to make sure everything is fine with your tracker.
Let me know how it goes.

How long do you keep the tracker off your wrist and how/where do you position it when not wearing it?
I ask because I notice when I don't position my Surge either flat on its face or laying fully on its side I see the HRM LEDs blink fairly consistently. That said, when I charge it (like just prior to my late afternoon run on the following image), the plots definitely show a gap where the Surge was off my wrist.
