Surge won't take a Charge Anymore

I'm sorry for the misleading subject line, but I just couldn't resist sharing this and hoped you-all might get a kick out of it.  My poor little three year old Surge was serving me well last night when I was out and about and wanted to put bug repellent on.  Wanting to make sure I protected my little electronic companion from bug spray melting any important parts, I took the Surge off and fastened it to my backpack so I wouldn't lose it or forget where I put it. Then I tossed my backpack into the car, got into the car, and pulled out of the driveway.  Thump.  Hmm, what was that?  Got out to check.

Surge had fallen off the backpack and lay in the driveway.  Took a direct hit from the car wheel.

Best part, IT'S ALIVE!!! Pretty much everything is damaged, no way I can fit the dongle in for charging, buttons crushed.  Dirt ground in.  But the green light is going.  When I pick it up in the dark, the screen glows faintly.  And IT SYNCS!!!
