The display is not working due to condensation.

I have a Fitbit Surge which has water inside, or at least condensation on the inside of the screen.  It also fails to swipe to give me information, although it still reports to my iPhone. I've been very careful with it as it was a present from my daughters.  I've never worn it in the rain, and done anything else such as washing hands or showering while I'm wearing it.  I do exercise to the point where I sweat, and if there has been sweat under the Surge or band then I wipe it off with something clean and blow on the charging socket to remove any other moisture.  Again I've been very careful with it, and I'm 71 so I don't get too wild anymore.  Can someone help me please?

It's great to see you in the Community @PeterBiggsCat Wink

I moved your post from Charge to Surge board so this can help other users with the same concern. The Fitbit products were designed as water resistant, this means that this is only rain, sweat and splash proof, we don't recommend to use it while showering, as with any wearable device, it's best for your skin if the band stays dry and clean. My recommendation is to place the Fitbit in a bowl of rice for 48 hours, then restart the Surge and check if the display works again.

Thank you for your advice. I followed your suggestion with the rice for several days and found that it had no noticeable effect on the Surge. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. I've been very careful to not expose the watch to any water as directed by the instructions and otherwise been careful in its use. I'm 71 years old and don't exercise enough to sweat a lot either.

It seems to me that I've got an expensive piece of equipment not well supported by the manufacturer and I've learned my lesson. I won't be buying anymore bits of junk like this, and will mention my experience to family and friends.

Again, thank you for your suggestion.
