Treadmill and GPS

I see some responses to this question but I am unsure of how to proceed. My tracker doesn't track my steps and distance accurately. Also, I notice there are a lot of times the heartrate tracker is off as well. Since I prefer to run on a treadmill vs outside do I need to turn the GPS tracker off? Will this help at all? As far as swinging my arms goes, they do swing when I'm on the treadmill, whether I am walking or running. Also, is there anyway to track running on an incline for floors climbed, or does it only work on actual stairs? Is there any way to track aside from how your arms swing? When I am in the grocery store pushing around a cart obviously my arms aren't going to be swinging...

GPS is clearly useless on a treadmill since you're not moving anywhere so should always be off when doing so (the Surge Treadmill mode won't turn GPS on anyway). Having said that, I wouldn't expect GPS to have any impact on your step count since your steps are actually being counted, not estimated from GPS distance.

Swinging your arms is also irrelevant. In my experience, these things can count steps with my hands in my pocket so there really is no need to swing. It's true that if your arms are completely static with respect to the ground (holding a handle) then the counting will be impacted but aside from that I normally find the count to be good enough.

It's nice to see you around the Community @SupykWoman Wink I agree with @MikeF, I also found a great post from @EdsonFitbit where he explains who the Surge works on the treadmill. See it here.

Hope that helps, have a great week guys!
