More fitbit problems. The sleep tile on my dashboard has completely disappeared and no sleep is being tracked. At the same time no tracked exercise is being recorded either manually or automatically. This shows a greater distance on my step count on the band but not on the app. Very annoying. Finally, as what appears to be a result of the above 2 issues, the battery won't last a single day. All rather frustrating, grrrrrr!

Have you tried resetting (not just switching it off then on again) your FitBit? I know it sounds like a lazy suggestion but it has actually fixed many issues I have had with my Surge:
Press and hold the home button (left) and the select button (bottom right) until the screen starts fading.
Wait a good 30 seconds then press the home button to switch it on again.

Depending on what you are using to get tiles back:
On Phone: Scroll to the bottom of the dashboard and click Edit. Add the tiles you want and click done.
Computer: On dashboard click on this add tiles and click save.
Also what @ZSolar said does help solve most problems and is called a restart
