fitbit surge: cycling without gps (outdoor bike)

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My issue here is that for short rides (less than 10 minutes) I'd like to just have the 'outdoor bike' mode. But that only gets started when more than 10 minutes have passed (when configuring the activity online that was the minimum for 'auto-detection').

I ride to the station every morning and that is about 7 minutes.

Is there a way to have 'outdoor bike' triggered after, say, 5 minutes?

I know I can manually kick off the 'gps bike' activity but that's more information than I need for this daily activity (I do use that mode for longer rides at the weekend).

Hi, I'm not being rude here but could you make your journey 3 or 4 minutes longer? It'd do you the world of good (50% more activity) and register as a ride?

If not although it might not log as a ride on the 7 minutes the calories burnt would be in the overall daily count due to your raised HR and I'm pretty sure the "step" equivalent is logged too.

Hi Chris, thanks for the suggestion (sorry for the delayed reply, I hadn't realised there'd been a response!)

I get your point about making the ride a little longer, but it's a balance of sleep too... getting up at 0530 and getting onto a folding bike to the station is bad enough, I'm more in 'get to the station mode' and  don't really fancy pedalling around the streets! (I do quite a bit of other exercise btw).

Also would be ok if I could just manually select 'outdoor bike'. I have tried the normal 'bike' but i have to sit there waiting 30 seconds for GPS to activate etc.

Anyway, not a big problem really...
