pace average not accurate

I had been noticing what seemed like my "average pace" reading seemed to be slower on some run where I really felt like I was pushing myself. So I did an experiment with some other friends who had similar training devices (not fitbit)...we matched everything up from the time we started, the time we ended, and we went side by side the whole way for a mile (we did the experiment twice).  Each time, mine was the odd man out being MORE than 30 secs slower (31 secs slower for the first trial and 45 secs slower for the second trial) for an average pace than for the other two devices. Is my surge broken, needs to be fixed in some way? Thank you!

Hello @SunsetRunner. When it comes about pace note that is hard to compare with other devices since in my opinion, every brand has its own technology. My suggestion is to make sure your hear rate is reading correctly as your pace will be determined on the intensity of your exercise along with the amount of steps you do in a period of time plus your GPS position. So wait for the GPS fix your location before you started moving as this will improve the distance and experiment with wearing the tracker higher on your wrist during exercise to improve your heart rate signal.

If the issue persist try with a restart on your Surge. In case you need the steps for this I shared the procedure in another post here that might be of your help for this.

Hope these tips helps and let me know how it goes, I'll be around.
