reading multiple texts

I can receive and read text messages when I get one at a time. But if i get multiple in quick succession or can't read immediately and get another one, i just see a screen that says "3 new messages" and who they are from, but I can't read them. I'm not sure if it just counts them differently, as in ,the "3 new messages" are the ones I'm scrolling side to side to read, or if there are others that I'm not able to read.

Does this make sense?

@hollyabell Welcome to the Fitbit Community! If you get multiple text messages just swipe left and right to see them all; if you happen to miss any notification. Remember your Surge will store up to 20 text notifications and the old ones will be deleted as new ones arrive. Feel free to check this notifications article for more details.

This doesn't exactly work for me. When I click on the button to see messages, the first notification is "2 new messages." Underneath it says "Pat, Dianne". If I swipe right, nothing happens. If I swipe left, I see the message from Diane. I cannot scroll up or down. If I swipe right again, I see an earlier message from a different person. I am not able to get to the message from Pat at all.

@kapntoad Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Have you tried to restart your tracker? That can help fixing this problem. If not, try to turn off the call notifications and then turn them back on to see if they will work properly.

I'm having this exact same problem. The issus is when multiple messages come in and they aren't checked on the phone between receiving.

  1. All notifications have been viewed on phone.
  2. New text comes in.
  3. Surge is notified and can view full body of message.
  4. Look at notification on phone.
  5. New text comes in.
  6. Surge is notified and can view full body of message.
  7. Do NOT look at phone.
  8. New text comes in (2nd unread notification).
  9. First text body is on surge but second one is not. In place of where 2nd message should be there's just a summary message.

I'm on a galaxy s6 edge on tmobile with all the latest carrier updates.

I have having the same issue with reading multiple text from the same person.  I have tried everything suggested in this thread and it still does not work.  Any other ideas

Has anyone solved this issue?  I have a Surge as well and I get the name of the person texting and number of messages but that is all i.e. "Tina Smith 2 new messages" but I cannot read anything in the text message. This is really getting frustrating.  If this doesn't get fixed I will follow my wife to the Garmin Vivofit HR. I'm tired of Fitbit not fixing the issues while their customer base has to suffer from their lack of customer service!!

Hi,

Just wanted to let everyone know this is not an issue with Fitbit but with Android. Android doesn't send the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc text as a notification but instead sends "2 new messages." Fitbit doesn't connect to the phone and read messages. The phone sends Fitbit the text of the notifications it shows on the screen. If you have text previews on your lock screen, it similarly does not show the text of the second message. Only that you have multiple.

Hey guys @timchi and @Twiztted, I hope you are having an awesome day! Woman Very Happy

Let me explain you that if you are using a different default notifications app such as Google Hangouts you will see the full content of your message instead of just the "new message" when receiving more than 1 message. I urge you to follow the instructions on @ErickFitbit post for messages on Android.
