Just got a replacement surge, and it wont update, is it too old or is there an issue with the app?

@lisky79 Your old Surge was updated to its latest firmware. Your replacement Surge has the firmware from when it was manufactured. The Surge is on Fitbit's Legacy Device List and Fitbit removed any updates.

Hi @lisky79 When a style is retired, like the Surge, Fitbit only does updates on it for about two years. The Surge was retired June 2020, so it's already past the time frame to receive updates. You can learn more about it here - click to read. The battery would be old, too and can't be replaced. The app isn't the problem. The Surge is just older and past time for updates.

hmmm. my gf's Fitbit died so I gave her my sense2. I have this old Surge I never used so charged and attempted to setup. things sorta work - I can get a 4 number code as required. but the final stage: update tracker - is where the whole thing collapses.
I continually get a Firmware Update Error response.
which seems to be the inevitable if its on the legacy list and all updates have been pulled.
with that said, Fitbit support requests a purchase receipt and they would check warranty status. there is no way I'd ever find the receipt so the end game is this seemingly viable tracker has no meaningful support to bring it back to operating standards.
anyone have thoughts as to any other thing which I'm missing??? recycling? thx.

Hello @reset63 and welcome to the Community. I don't think you are missing anything. Your Surge is long past its warranty period. Please dispose of it properly, based on your local rules. In my area, rechargeable batteries must be disposed as hazardous waste.
