Did you export a Fitbit GPS activity? In the Fitbit world, to export TCX your activity *must* have GPS data.

Unfortunately Fitbit has crippled TCX export utility. So if you try exporting a Fitbit activity without GPS, you get an empty file.

Same problem here - I just tried Garmin Connect Import of an older hike, recorded on iPhone 5s using Fitbit app and MobileRun.

here's the different of tcx(actually xml) file exported from garmin connect and fitbit,

probably the missing part of fitbit is the reason?

I've noted other differences between Fitbit TCX and other TCX files I have, for example:

xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.garmin.com/xmlschemas/TrainingCenterDatabase/v2
http://www.garmin.com/xmlschemas/TrainingCenterDatabasev2.xsd"
...

and

xmlns: ...

stuff, and

<Creator xsi:type="Device_t" ...

stuff.

Not sure where the problem is, I tried a couple quick fixes and nothing worked.

I'm also doing that, just using garmin connect tcx format and feed the fitbit surge data in,

no good luck yet

I tried with Wahoo Fitness file template. Didn't work.

fitbit logged 1xxx points of data, while for same activity, garmin fr225 only logged 3xx points,

tcx file size, fitbit gave 7xxK, garmin 2xxK,

another concern might be the average and maximum I "made" for fitbit, when import, does garmin connect verify them?

@ucol I was able to import the tcx file into MapMyFitness. Can see map, elevation, pace, etc. Looks good.

No modifications, it imported directly into MapMyFitness.

Is it possible for anyone from fitbit to answer to this issue?

And, most important, is it possible to finaly fix the export of .tcx file, in order to be imported in other applications?

Instead of experimenting on changing the format, we should ask from Fitbit to solve this issue.

Thanks for the info, but the post is presenting a very specific issue, importing tcx files on Garmin connect. If this is solved, i appreciate the answer.

is the problem Fitbit export, or Garmin import ?

the Fitbit export is understood by Google Earth, GPS Visualizer, Runkeeper, (others ?), but not by Garmin Connect ?

It is not understoond by Garmin connect, srportraks, endomondo etc... And fas you already know, google earth does not support parameters like heart rate and other specific figures on training.

That means that the tcx exported by fitbit is NOT the correct one to be imported in other fitness and training applications.

And by the way, no one from the moderators has answered to the post.

Endomondo imports Fitbit .tcx with distance, speed, altitude, hearth frequency, calories burned

Googling "garmin connect tcx import problem" gives a lot of answers about Garmin Connect.

so, i have at leat 5 applications importing Fitbit .tcx, and one not able.

The problem is the last one, Garmin Connect.

I am also having the same issue.  I got an idea from what i'ver read in this thread and this is what I did to "export" Fitbit data to Garmin Connect:

- import from FitBit tcx to MapMyRun

- export the same from MapMyRun and import to Garmin Connect
