Fitbit Pay transitions to Google Wallet

Hey Fitbit Community,

Since the release of contactless payments on select Fitbit devices in 2017, many of us have enjoyed the convenience of being able to make payments right from our wrists. This year, we're delighted to share that contactless payments for Fitbit devices are being updated from Fitbit Pay to Google Wallet.

Why switch to Google Wallet

This update increases the number of banks and cards that are available for contactless payments on your Fitbit device and lets you pay quickly everywhere Google Pay is accepted.

Last day for Fitbit Pay

You can continue to use existing cards in Fitbit Pay until July 29th, 2024, but no new cards can be added.

Note: If you’re located in Saudi Arabia, Japan, or Taiwan, your device will continue to use Fitbit Pay past July 29th. For more information, check out our Help Center article.

Banks Supporting Google Wallet

We regularly update our list of supported banks and recently added support for American Express® cards in the US, so if your current card is not on the list, check back soon or you can choose from one of the hundreds of participating banks that Google Wallet supports for your Fitbit device.

Getting started is easy

Follow these steps for a smooth transition.

  1. Make sure your Fitbit device and app are up to date
  2. From the Today tab Screenshot 2024-06-13 at 10.04.14 AM.png

in the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon Screenshot 2024-06-13 at 10.04.28 AM.png

  3. Tap the Wallet tile.
  4. Tap Update to Google Wallet, and sign in to your Google account.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to add a card to Google Wallet. Note that your cards aren’t migrated from Fitbit Pay, so you need to add them to Google Wallet.
