Hey Fitbit Community,
Fitbit Labs is for select users to opt-in to explore new, experimental capabilities and provide valuable feedback as we iterate on them. Eligible users will see available labs in the “You” and “Today” tab of the Fitbit app where they can participate in the lab or join a waitlist.
Starting today, you can join a waitlist for our latest experimental capability, Medical record navigator, which will be available for testing later this week. This lab can help turn complicated lab reports into clear health summaries. Once signed up and enrolled, you can securely upload recent lab results to the Fitbit app. Then with the help of Gemini, Fitbit can summarize the information and present the data back to you in clear, accessible language, complete with educational resources. Use this lab to quickly understand any complex medical terms and get a better understanding of your results.
Additionally, two other labs will be rolling out to select users in the Fitbit App in the coming weeks.
The first is Symptom checker, an experimental capability designed to help you understand why you’re feeling the way you’re feeling. Imagine you’re feeling a bit off one day. Simply describe to the lab your symptoms (like "my head hurts" or "I feel tired"). It may then ask you a few follow-up questions. After answering, it can give you possible reasons for what's causing your symptoms. Use this lab as a starting point to help you understand why you’re feeling off, so you can then decide whether you should do more research or consult with a doctor.
The second is Unusual trends, an experimental capability that can track changes to your health data or overall well-being. Think of this lab as a way to keep an eye on invisible changes happening in your body that you may not notice otherwise, like breathing rate while you sleep, heart rate variability and resting heart rate. Once you enroll, it learns what is "normal" for you. Then if one of your health metrics suddenly trends away from your baseline, this lab can inform you of that change. This can help you realize when something is off, make a connection as to why it might be off (Is it stress? Am I getting sick?), and whether additional steps are needed to address it.
These research studies provide experimental capabilities that are for investigational use only and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate, prevent any disease or condition, or be used as a substitute for professional medical advice. Data collected through your participation will be used by Fitbit for research and development purposes to improve these and future health features.
