We listened to your feedback!

When we launched the personal health coach in Public Preview  last year, our goal was to build a new kind of health and wellness experience — one that doesn't just track your health and wellness insights but understands them, and you. The feedback we received from more than 500,000 of our users has been invaluable in helping us deliver on our goal.

Key themes we heard from Preview users were:

  • We launched without a full set of features so we could start getting feedback faster. Not surprisingly, people missed things like nutrition and cycle tracking.
  • People asked us for more flexibility in their plans to better match their needs and circumstances and help  performing the workouts.
  • People had a hard time finding things or were left wanting a bit more customization or  a better balance of insights from the coach with quick access to their favorite metrics.
  • We erred on the side of a more verbose Coach and knew we needed to balance it. Feedback has helped us continue to refine this.
  • People wanted better stitching of sleep sessions, support for naps, more accurate measurement, and sleep data sooner after waking up.

Since January, we’ve been busy expanding the experience, bringing new features and improving existing ones in response to the feedback.

  • The most-requested missing features are now here: cycle tracking, nutrition and Mental Wellbeing have all been redesigned for the new Coach experience and rebuilt from the ground-up.
  • Customization: While we heard that people like the timely insights the Coach can provide, we know that it’s still important to have your favorite metrics at a glance and be able to find what you want. So, we’ve enabled multiple pages and more metric options to customize your dashboards on the Today tab.  You can choose the metrics that are most important to you to be front and center.
  • Key metrics on the Health tab: And, on the Health tab, you can now customize your key metrics for quick access to what matters most to you, with a weekly lens, easily elevating access to anything from cycle tracking, nutrition, VO2 max or heart health.
  • Improved sleep tracking: We improved accuracy to better detect naps and see sleep data sooner after waking up, and added a new Sleep Score that brings you more actionable insights and metrics like interruptions and restlessness.
  • Medical record integration: We’ve added the ability to sync medical records in the U.S., and share them with the Coach to ask questions and learn more.
  • Flexible fitness plans: Instead of a rigid or templatized workout schedule, your coach helps you identify weekly “targets” and a plan that is personalized to you and your goals. Each day, the Coach will make suggestions on what to focus on based on your readiness, your progress, and even the weather, to help achieve your weekly goals.
  • Step-by-step workout guidance: We’ve added dynamic workouts, including rich visualizations and instructions in a streamlined layout for step-by-step exercise logging, featuring automatic progress tracking that evolves with you.
  • More refined and accurate guidance: Chats are now more succinct and conversational, better reflecting real-life conversations with a coach.
  • Multiple ways to log: You can now log your data via voice, images or documents – to log complex workouts, upload photos of gym whiteboards, snap photos of meals for nutritional analysis, or understand or summarize files, like PDFs or medical records.

We’re offering a more holistic view of your health

You can experience all of the above in the Google Health app. It’ll roll out as an app update to the existing Fitbit app, beginning May 19 - available to all iOS and Android Fitbit and Pixel Watch users. No need to transition to a new app, just update your existing one and all your data will still be there.
