restarting fitbit alta WITHOUT original charger

Made a mistake and purchased a third party alta charger....... fitbit was keeping accurate counts BEFORE I got the new charger.  The old one became disengaged from the terminal and rendered useless.   I removed the devise as suggested and wanted to reset it.  BUT I have run into problems....I get as far as connecting to usb...BUT IT JUST SEARCHES and finds no connection.  Is that because of the third party cable? It's not finding a connection.    Is the obvious answer just buy a original fitbit charger?

Thanks for reading.

Hi, @tonif! Are you saying that the new charger doesn't have a reset button on it?

Also, if you're within the warranty period for your tracker, you can get in touch with Fitbit Support and get your charging cable replaced.

No reset button. Got as birthday gift in June but didn't keep the paperwork.

I would still suggest getting in touch with Fitbit Support. Explain the situation and they might still be able to help you out.

I would buy a Fitbit charger.

I doubt very much Fitbit will replace a third party charger

Unclasp and reclasp charger 3 times in a row.   If that doesnt work, unplug and replug the USD 3 times in a row (1/2 to 1 second intervals).

This worked for me after Fitbit help line told me the only solution was an official Fitbit charger.

Best of luck!
