3rd party integration not possible(?) with Fitbit's new Google account requirement

I am a new Fitbit user. I purchased the new Fitbit Charge 6 last week and have been loving it. However, I am running into problems connecting it with my insurance app, which offers discounts based on physical active days- the main motivation to but the Fitbit in the first place.

Within my insurance app, there are only a few Fitness Apps supported (Fitbit, Garmin, Oura, Polar, and Withings Health Mate). When I click Fitbit, I get routed to the Fitbit login page, however I don't have a Fitbit log-in. As a new user, I was automatically required to sign-in with my Google Account (no issue there).

From the Fitbit login screen, when I click "the Sign-in with Google", the App responds with an error message. It seems the integration requires a Fitbit connection perhaps, and does not support connection to Google accounts.

Has anyone had a similar issue? If I cannot connect the apps then I will return the Fitbit while I can, despite liking the device, and purchase one that is compatible with my insurance company...
