Did you mean:

Alexa won't tell me how many hours I slept.

I have the Charge 2. I recently installed the Fitbit skill on my Alexa. When I ask it "Alexa, ask Fitbit how many hours I slept last night" Alexa just tells me what time I fell asleep.  I've re-phrased this question several different ways but always get the same answer.  I went on Amazon support and Fitbit support chat rooms and they were completely useless. They both told me to uninstall the skill, then reinstall it and that would solve my problem.  I did that twice. It didn't help at all.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

I tried the commands and they all worked.  I also modified some to see if I could get information about days other than "today" and that worked too.  For instance, "Alexa, ask Fitbit how many steps I took yesterday" works.

Hey there @tagoldstein! It all sounds like the issue you're having is related to Alexa because you have the Fitbit data in your Dashboard it's just Alexa that isn't giving you the information that you want.

You mentioned you already contacted Amazon but in this case, I highly recommend to troubleshoot this issue with them. Also, you may want to test Alexa and asking for other data or using other apps.

Hope this helps!

Is Alexa being specific in questioning?

Sometimes, she is.
In relations to Fitbit and sleep the question I found that works is:

Alexa, ask Fibit how I slept last night.

Best Answer
Yes, that is the exact expression I use. It tells me what time I fell asleep and if I met my sleep goal, but not how long I slept.

Hi there @tagoldstein, thank you for the additional details. @CatwomanTina has a good point in specific questioning. I know Alexa will provide different information based on how is requested. I am not a Echo user so far but, I know and based on what I investigated to give you an answer, even accent can change the way Alexa provides the information from Fitbit.

Some key phrases may be

  • How I’m doing today
  • How I slept last night
  • How far I walked
  • How many steps I’ve taken
  • How many active minutes I have
  • How many stairs I climbed
  • If I’ve exercised today
  • How many calories I have left
  • How much water I’ve had
  • What my resting heart rate is
  • How much I weigh
  • About my battery

If this is not working, my recommendation is to approach to Amazon Support for more details.

Keep me posted how it goes, I'll be around.

Thank you for sharing with us that you have tried all the commands using Alexa. Pretty cool right? I'm eager to get one for myself. Everytime I heard an experience like yours, it motivates me to purchase one of their products.
