Anyone not counting the calories they consume?

I've been using my One for about two and a half months, and faithfully entering my calorie count via MyFitnessPal all this time. My weight hasn't changed, although I know exactly why it hasn't -- too much beer and too little exercise. I'm considering dropping the calorie counting and focusing on just being aware of what I'm eating as I tend to get obsessive over calories. My question is, what will this do to my stats? If I don't enter my food intake, will the fitbit just tell me how I'm doing activity-wise? Is anyone else just using their fitbit for activity information and not for calories in/out?

Hey,raindog...I am old, and despise entering what I eat on the computer! I can write it down, but honestly, it does ME no good. I use my fitbit to confirm that I actually GET the exercise, and that is about all. The calories in/ out apparently does not apply to my metabolism.....

Yes, that's exactly as I'm using mine (One)! Counting calories in would be way too tedious for me and I know calories out as counted by Fitbit aren't accurate anyway (at least for me). My main interest in Fitbit are steps and VAM's.

Thanks for the reply! Kind of surprisingly, I think my calories in and out are pretty accurate- I said my weight has stayed the same but the first month I did lose about a pound, which was right on target considering the calories I consumed vs. the calories I burned. I was actually really impressed it was so accurate. It really makes it clear that if I want to lost more/faster I have to adjust my eating and my exercise. Which of course I knew already but it's good to have the evidence right in front of me.

So I'm glad I've been tracking calories for this long, but I'm also sick of it and really think I'd have better luck paying attention to what I'm eating and what I really want instead of focusing on calories. AND getting a lot more exercise. When I am getting enough exercise, I find myself much less inclined to overeat- I know that from long experience.

Thanks, Dominique! It is tedious, and I'm a Gemini and get bored of things really fast. I also have plenty of experience counting calories (years ago I lost 40 pounds by doing that) and I actually am a healthy eater anyhow, and even more so when I'm getting enough exercise. Which I am not currently, so I think if I focus on that and not be so concerned with calories, I'll have a lot more success.
