Bug in the amount of sleep reported by Alexa integration

Hi all

I have my Fitbit Charge 2 configured to work with Alexa and a Sonos One. I can ask Alexa to ask Fitbit various information and it works quite nicely.

However, ask it how I slept and the maths is a little off. For example, last night, I slept for 5 hours and 3 minutes - I know, bad, but not the problem.

Alexa told me I had slept only for 3 hours. That's a pretty big difference.

According to my Dashboard, my actual sleep stats were 50 minutes each for Rem and Deep Sleep, and 3 hours 15 for Light Sleep.

So, either the Alexa/Fitbit integration is only telling me about Light Sleep, or only telling me about full hours.

Either way, this is too inaccurate and needs to add all of the minutes together before working out how many hours to report.

I'm posting this here in case one of the Developers reads it. Hopefully it can be raised as a bug report and addressed fairly easily.

Hello @ianabrown, nice to see you here in the Fitbit Community as a new member! In this case since the integration is working in other sections of your Fitbit Dashboard, I wouldn't dare to consider this a glitch specially since your sleep recording are correct from Fitbit's end.

Since we do not have access to the Data of Alexa, I would recommend to contact directly Amazon Support for more help regarding this issue you are experiencing.

I'll be around so feel free to keep me posted.

Hi.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it.

I did raise this first with Alexa Support and they sent me here - their view was that the device is listening and talking correctly and it is not an issue on their side, and I kinda agree.

I'm with you that the fitbit itself and my dashboard are as I'd expect.

The issue, I think, is with the Fitbit Skill - the middleware that takes the request for information from the user, gets the data from Fitbit and tells Alexa what to say.

So it is the developer of the Fitbit Skill that needs this bug report - and that is listed as being "Fitbit Inc.", so it might not be the same group as the main Fitbit development, but it does sound like you have someone looking after it.

Perhaps you'd be able to track them down and let them know? I'm happy to provide further info.

Also, in subsequent days, I've tried again and again and the sleep numbers are just plain wrong in comparison to the dashboard, so there is something afoot.

Thanks

Ian
