Calorie intake way off

I input all my food via MyFitnessPal and sync from the two sites.  For the first 10 months or so everything worked perfectly.  Then suddenly over the past month or two my fitbit dashboard is adding many extra calories on random days.  For example I logged 2167 calories on November 23, but my fitbit dashboard is saying I logged 3558!  Nearly 1400 calories more than it should.  I love getting my fitbit weekly report, but for the past month they have been totally wrong.  Some days it adds an extra 400 calories, and some much more, and some days it registers perfectly.  Any idea why this is happening?

The IT folks are looking into this.  It seems the Fitbit app wants to double book some meals.  In my case I think it was when I loaded a pre-set meal in MFP and then made changes.  The app then took the original meal and the corrected meal as two different meals with different calories.  As you noted it is very random.  I have encountered this about 5 times in the last month but not recently.
