I really want to use the Fitbit website and iphone app as they offer so much more than Garmin Connect. I have read many reviews that this can be done but I cannot figure it out as when I download Fitbit sync, it only gives options for their products. Help!

@ginnyw0616 The FitBit website and app are for use with FitBit products. I'm not sure there is a way to do what you want.
Maybe a moderator will be able to offer more, but I really doubt there is anything you can do to use this site with a competitor's device.

One of FitBit's apps, FitDataSync allows you to sync activities, but only activities. So not only do you have to set up an account and enable it to interact with your fitbit account, but you explicitly have to enter your activities on Garmin Connect and they'll eventually sync to your fitbit account, simply logging steps does nothing.
However, even with logging activites I had a tough time getting anything but steps to sync into my fitbit account. So calories and distance were zero during that running activity. Maybe it's in the nature of the type of activity, but it was enough of a hassle that it wasn't worth my time.
I hope this helps.

@ginnyw0616 There is not a way to sync Garmin data to the Fitbit Dashboard. However, as @PureEvil suggests, you may be able to find a different third party application that allows you to view Garmin data in a format that you prefer!

You should also keep in mind that Garmin generally does not open up their world to connecting with other devices and apps.
