Can't find steps in MyFitnessPal app

I have an Alta and an iPhone 7, running 10.2.1, and both the MFP app and the Fitbit app.

On the phone, in the MFP app, I go to More > Apps & Devices > pick Fitbit and connect. Fitbit is now listed as a connected device.

My Alta and the Fitbit app sync just fine, but the Alta doesn't sync at all with the MFP app.  I see the grey bar where steps should go in the MFP app, but there is no info there, for instance.

I'm new to using the Alta with MFP, so I may very well be missing something. Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
