Can't get Fitbit to sync with MyFitnessPal

I've had a MyFitnessPal account and app for years. Recently I got a FitBit Luxe and I understand that you can sync the two. It would be nice for FitBit to know the food I log in MyFitnessPal. But no matter what I do, I can't seem to get it to sync. I try to add the FitBit app to MyFitnessPal, but it seems to do nothing, just takes me back to the same screen without saying that there has been any success, etc. I have followed the instructions posted here previously but they don't seem to work.

Any suggestions? I'd really like to get this working! Thanks!

Ah, I got it to work. Turns out that I needed to all Fitbit and MFP to access ALL DATA POINTS (I was excluding the Friends data point). Now they seem to be synced together. Seems ridiculous that, if it requires that you ADD ALL, it also provides a checklist of data points, prompting you to exclude whatever data points you want to exclude. Why not just state that ADD ALL is required for the apps to connect with each other???
