Charge HR | Cycling | MapMyFitness | Steps way too high...

Hello all - to keep it to the point...

Current Setup:

  • Charge HR on non-dominent wrist
  • Trek bike with GPS/Cadence devide syncs live with MapMyFitness App (when cycling)
  • Fitbit syncs successfully with MapMyFitness (web-based)

What I want to do:

  • I want to track steps and heart rate (daily & accurately)
  • I ALSO want to use HR monitoring during daily cycling compute for work and fun

How I do it to produce the issue:

  1. I start my cycle routine with MyFitness App, this starts fine and stops fine (uses the GPS/Cadence built into the bike)
  2. Fitbit grabs the heart rate information just fine and shows the peaks/etc as expected during the same period...
  3. Before the services SYNC, my steps are way off in FitBit (obviously picking up alot from the bike ride).
  4. After the sync, no change in STEPS, so what is going wrong?

Question I need answered:

  1. How do I ensure that the daily cycling activity I do does not produce STEPS when cycling in the FitBit App, at the same time to ensure to keep the heart rate information?

A Thought:  Shouldn't the sync from MapMyFitness/Ride inform FitBit of this activity and auto-correct?

Thanks in advance!

Gregory

@gwwaus It's great to have you here! Thanks for the details that you've posted. That's correct when you're using your Charge HR and log cycling or biking to your activity log, it won't delete the steps done during that period of time. However, when you log it; you're going to improve the amount of calories that you get.

Also, when MapMyFitness data syncs to Fitbit the data will be override.

Hope this helps Robot Happy

I also have this problem. I get about 10k steps for a 24 mile ride.

And Fitbit says it syncs with MapMyFitness but I can't find the data anywhere.

Hello everyone! The activities from MyFitnessPal are synced to Fitbit as manually logged activities. Tracked information by Fitbit is synced over to MyFitnessPal, this will include all the data tracked. Also, the Fitbit steps and data con be viewed in the "check-in" section of MFP.

It is also possible to check MFP help site to get extra help!

Hope this helps! Smiley Very Happy
