Charge HR and MyFitnessPal - doubling activity minutes?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I recently received a Charge HR as a gift and LOVE it.... however, I think I may be getting double the activity minutes.

When I walk or run on the treadmill, I use the "workout" option on my Charge (push the little button on the side for the timer) and then manually log my exercise (duration and calories burned) in Runkeeper - which then syncs up to MyFitness Pal.

When I check my FitBit Dashboard, I see the manual log of my workout from MFP (which shows calories burned and duration), and I also see a "workout" bar from my FitBit.  I noticed that my FitBit is tracking my steps (which I want), but also my minutes.  Soooo..... if I ran for 30 minutes, it shows up as 60 minutes of activity on my Activity Minutes (30 from FitBit, 30 from my manual log from MFP).  I know steps are not being doubled, but are calories?? (I also use MFP to log my meals and track caloric intake)

I've read through some other posts but found that I ended up more confused than not, so I thought I would post my own question.  I just want to make sure I'm not cheating on the calories!

Welcome to the forums @thebestonice! I'll be glad to help on this. Smiley Happy

Your workouts are doubling because RunKeeper is linked to MFP not Fitbit, please unlink RunKeeper from MFP and link it through Fitbit.

Also, I recommend to link and unlink your MFP account from Fitbit. Here's how to do it:

  1. Go to your Apps page and search at the middle right of the page for the apps you currently have linked.
  2. Select Fitbit tracker
  3. Click on Disconnect
  4. Log out of Fitbit and MFP.
  5. Log back in
  6. Log into MyFitnessPal and click Apps.
  7. In the App Gallery, find Fitbit and click Connect.
  8. Click Allow to give MyFitnessPal access to your Fitbit data.
  9. Follow the instructions provided.

Also, please note that all food and water items must be logged through MFP and your steps, exercises, manual logs and other activities need to be logged through Fitbit; this will prevent any double logging or incorrectly increasing your caloric budget for the day.

Let me know if you have any questions, good luck! Smiley Happy

Thank you for the response.... but based on your answer... is it even
necessary to use Runkeeper anymore (if I'm logging all exercise through
Fitbit anyway)? Guess I'm confused as to what the purpose of Runkeeper
would be?

Thanks for the help!
