Exercise Log on MyFitnessPal

I have my Charge HR synced with My Fitness Pal.  I usually take a 2 mile walk daily and I suspected that the fitbit was double crediting the calories burned by using 1) the calories I burn taking steps (pedometer) and 2) the calories I burned logging the walk as an exercise where it tracked the miles/time.

So this time I did NOT set the fitbit to log the walk as an exercise and simply let it count the steps.  Sure enough, less calories counted.  But what bothers me is just how many calories less!

I also used my Runtastic app to track the walk.  It said 1.95 miles with 175 calories burned.  The calorie difference FitBit says is only 82 (beginning calories burned vs calories burned when I was done) but it did count the time as Active.  Is that accurate??

Thanks for being part of our Community @msdrgnldy! If you wear your tracker while walking it is not necessary to manually log this activity. If you are doing an activity that does not require steps (like weight lifting or swimming) or an activity that requires more than just steps (like tennis or yoga), you can manually log the activity which works particularly well for activities where the step count is not a good indicator of the amount of calories burned. All the calories burned recorded by your tracker should be overridden by the values of the manually logged activity. This also ensures that your calories burned are not counted twice (as long as the manually logged activity has the correct start time and duration).
