Exercise tracked on Fitbit not syncing to MyFitnessPal

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Fitbit tracked exercises used to sync with MyFitnessPal so I could get credit for the exercise I do against my calorie total for the day.  Now for some reason it only tracks steps taken, not anything else such as the cardio workouts.  I have tried everything such as deleting both apps and reinstalling, etc.  they show as connected but no exercise info is syncing.  Please help.

@Rich_Laue. My post in no way threatened other Fitbit users or Fitbit and your bullying response is not appreciated in an open forum of discussion. I stated the sync problem still existed and despite trying all of the suggestions for fixing it. Yes, it is a MFP issue, but that doesn’t change the fact that another fitness watch that does sync would have been a better option FOR ME.  Had I known this beforehand, I would have bought a different product.

Threatening Fitbit users?  Where did she do that?  If bullying is allowed here, then I will tell you that you need to get off your high horse and move out of your parents’ basement.  This is ridiculous.

And as has been mentioned through this community, my Fitness Pal is responsible for the upkeep of their connection with Fitbit.

There is nothing Fitbit can do to fix your issue.

Telling us that your going to leave Fitbit unless Fitbit can help you will not help in getting a message to my fitness pal. Your barking up the wrong tree.

Has it ever occurred to you that maybe, just MAYBE, there is an issue on the Fitbit side that prevents MFP from pulling the information?  No...that would put the blame on Fitbit.  It couldn’t possibly be a Fitbit issue.  🙄. I’m so tired of Fitbit making excuses and blaming MFP.  I don’t post here anymore because of this, but needed to respond to YOUR threatening response to a customer.  Uncalled for and you should be reported to admin.

And never mind that there have been several times just recently that Fitbit has failed to count my runs as exercise in the fitbit app.  Then when I manually enter it, it just adds more steps which throws off my calories burned.  That must be a MFP issue too.  I’m done with this.

Yes it has, but then this issue would also affect every app that connects to Fitbit, not just one app. My Walgreens still work, my Google Spreadsheet still works, walking 4 fun and EveryMove are still tracking my progress, and Achievement is still awarding me money.

Try reaching out to MFP

I've thrown out Fitbit device. No longer will use the product

As for this community, couldn't be bothered when posts are responded to with condescension by the Rich bloke.

Only posting here bc I had an email notification and saw another rude post by him.

Not true. Apps are separate, different and use different programming code.  Fitbit has frequent internal problems, like not recording my runs in the app, so it’s not far-fetched to think it could possibly be a programming issue on fitbit side.  Nice to see another user respond that has also been on the receiving end of condescending remarks.

@Rich_Laue your bullying of people on this thread is gross. I can tell you are one of those guys that just has to be right about everything. What we are telling you is that ANY exercise type done in FitBit used to sync to MFP. As of recent, that does not happen. And the calories burned are not pushed under a general bucket like you stated in reply to me a few months back, the calories are just not accounted for in MFP anywhere. It is actually entirely possible that there is a glitch in the FitBit app that is only allowing data of certain categories or workout types to be made available to be pulled over by MFP...FitBit has said several times in this thread that they know there are sync issues and are trying to fix them. You don’t know what the problem is any more than anyone else here.

@RocketGal  abandoning FitBit for the Apple Watch is what I ended up doing as well - and I absolutely love my Apple Watch. It is one of those things where you don’t miss the “extra” things Apple Watch offers while you don’t have them, but now that I do, I could not go back. Everything pairs and syncs seamlessly, and the recent updates to the health app are more insightful as well - it compiles your data for you and provides you information with how your health has been impacted (positively or negatively) by the readings from your watch, and offers suggestions for ways to move the needle in the right direction if needed.

FitBit should be taking notes.... their devices are getting way too expensive to be only halfway useful in a fully saturated fitness wearables market.

Hello guys, I hope you are doing fine.

I am sorry for the delay in respond and appreciate all the efforts in trying to fix this syncing issue.

If you are having problems syncing your Fitbit account with MFP, I recommend taking a look at this post and follow the instructions provided there. If these steps don't solve the problem and your Fitbit is syncing properly with your Fitbit account, I recommend contacting MFP support directly.

Also, let's keep in mind that the Fitbit Community is a friendly place, where we try to help each other to fix the different issues we are experiencing with our trackers. Please make sure to follow our Community Guidelines to keep that friendly environment.

I will see you around. 🙂

I've tried all of the above and still no luck seeing any exercise accounted for other than steps. I'm using a samsung A5... would that affect fitbit's ability to communicate to myfitnesspal? If I log exercise manually in myfitnesspal it shows up in the fitbit app but not vice versa.  I add it to myfitnesspal to show the appropriate calories in/ out but then it doubles up in the fitbit app.

I'm finding I'm spending too much time trying to get these things to sync properly and troubleshooting.

Help please! If it is in fact a result of the samsung A5  compatibility could there please be an update to resolve this? I'd rather not have to buy a new phone to go with my fitbit in which case a different fitness tracker may be more beneficial and I'd have to return this one 😞 using charge 3 by the way.

Thanks

You may want to try the FAQ on MyFitnessPal and please remember that they are responsible for the connection.

I looked on there as well and it told me to do the same thing as on here. Sigh. Any knowledge on if it might be a result of my phone?

I doubt it has anything to do with the phone, this sync happens in the network cloud.

What did MFP respond with when you reached out to their support?

Automated email to try all the things I've tried.  However in doing more reading it sounds like the actual separate exercises themselves won't show up in the exercise list on mfp, it just accounts for calories burnt during activity throughout the day and then if you do a workout like weights... it'll track that you've done it on fitbit app... sync just the calories with mfp but not actually list it. Does that make sense?

I thought that the actual elliptical exercise would show in mfp on the list like the steps do.  I think it would be really nice if it did.

Am I correct with that or should it show up in the list. I hope that makes sense.

I'm not sure what MFP set up to sync to them. Just a note, MFP is in charge of what they take from fitbit, and you would get a better answer from them or from their community.

Yeah I've posted on there too.  I think it's what I said above but just didnt realize it until I read a bunch. I think I just expected that the exercise would show up on my fitness pal. Anyway thank you for your help! Much appreciated.
