Failing to link with MyFItnessPal

ANSWERED

I had my Fitbit connected with MyFitnessPal for a very long time but it stopped syncing. I read to disconnect and connect it again so I did that but when trying to connect it I get this error even tho I click 'allow all' on Fitbit permissions. I tried clicking each one of the permissions individually, tried on both my phone and computer but keeping getting the same error.

Not mine, just tried.  Maybe the fix is not accross the board?  Not a programmer so I don't know how this works......  I'll keep trying

It’s not.  I was able to connect several times randomly in the last couple of days but it only synced the current steps for the day and will not sync anything that happens after it’s synced.  If you disconnect and reconnect again, you may or may not actually be able to connect.

I was finally just able to get mine to relink again to myfitnesspal.

I havent tested to see if the data is linking correctly yet but even linking it is a step in the right direction. I was excited to finally not get the message on the website when linking.

Mine still isn’t working either ☹️ I’ve received this a couple of minutes ago from my enquiry to MFP this morning:

Hello,
Thanks so much for writing in and letting us know about the issue linking your Fitbit. We are aware users are experiencing issues with their Fitbit integration.  These issues include, but are not limited to: inability to link Fitbit and MyFitnessPal, inability to see Fitbit as a partner to link, receiving an error when linking that they did not select all the data points, and data not syncing. We are currently investigating the cause of this and hope to identify a resolution as soon as possible.

I am getting exactly this too - thought it was me not doing right as I am new to myfitnesspal. Also done on both iphone and laptop with no joy (24th March 2025)

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

I'm not so sure it's just MFP. I've just downloaded chronometer as an alternative and after connecting my Fitbit, it's not pulling anything in so potentially it's the Fitbit side

Thank you for letting me know! I made the error of removing my link
completely as a prior thread indicated. Now I just hope they can get it
fixed so I can get my link back.

Gosh, I’m so glad it’s not just me. I was beginning to think I was legit going crazy. I hope that they get everything fixed soon! It’s annoying not to have my things sync!!

I got it to say that my Fitbit was connected however when I checked my steps on MyFitnessPal it’s saying phone even though Fitbit is checked as being the device for step tracking.

Same problem a week later!

Hi there,

I’m having persistent issues reconnecting MyFitnessPal to my Fitbit account. I initially revoked access via the Fitbit settings page and attempted to reconnect through MyFitnessPal’s website, granting all permissions as requested (including the “Friends” permission). Despite this, I got the same error as everyone else from MyFitnessPal: "To connect your Fitbit account, please allow MyFitnessPal to access all Fitbit data points."

I’ve tried the following steps:

1. Revoked MFP access in my Fitbit settings

2. Cleared browser cache and cookies (Chrome, Edge, Firefox)

3. Used both incognito mode and multiple browsers

4. Attempted reconnection via both mobile and desktop

5. Tried creating a new MyFitnessPal account to isolate the issue

6. Confirmed that I’m using a Google-based Fitbit login, which may be related

Given that the error persists across devices, browsers, and even accounts, I suspect the issue may be due to a lingering OAuth token or incorrect permission scope not fully cleared on Fitbit’s backend.

Im going to ask Fitbit Support to fully purge any and all third-party tokens or cached permissions related to MyFitnessPal from my Fitbit account andsee if that fixes it.

I've found a solution, without help from fitbit support:

1- Modify my Email on MFP to have the same email on both apps (MFP & Fitbit)
2- Try to connect on fitbit by MFP connecting apps on computer: https://www.myfitnesspal.com/apps/show/30
First time it didn't work, but this morning it works!!!

Seems like Fitbit os not syncing to a few apps, Strava and MyFitnessPal amongst them.

I have tried relinking multiple times, and each time no luck.

@Fitbit when are we likely to see a fix?  As whatever you have done so far has had zero impact.

I managed to fix mine yesterday, it stopped again today and now won’t connect again

Having the same problem. I have a Fitbit Versa 3 and a Samsung S24 cell phone if that helps. The two apps have synced fine for years and suddenly stopped yesterday. After the mess with erratic step counts the last few weeks I'm beginning to think I'll have to move onto another watch and app and it won't be anything Google..
