FitBit not using My Fitness Pal data for calories eaten

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've been using my new FitBit One with My Fitness Pal for a week. Everything has been fine until today. But today, FitBit is reporting incorrect data for calories eaten. The correct number of cals eaten today, according to MFP, is 1,394, and I'm on track. FitBit says I've eaten 1,582 and am over my goal. I've searched through the help section and scanned the forums but I can't find a fix for this. I did try disconnecting MFP from FitBit and then reconnecting, which was suggested in one discussion, but it didn't do anything.

And just to be clear, I record all my foods ONLY in MFP, never in FitBit.

Any thoughts? Thank you.

Actually, FitBit says I've eaten 1,987 calories and am @ 800 cals over -- this is just crazy! Is it double-counting some items somehow?? I don't get it.

Ive been having the exact same problem for the last few days. None of the FitnessPal data is importing correctly. What really sucks is, Ive paid for premium several years in a row. So why am I paying an extra $50 for bad data and incorrect metrics? I used to be a MASSIVE fan of this company and their products but lately, lots of dropped balls. Ive had lots of issues with my Aria not syncing that I just gave up on. Sad to watch a once great product and service crash and burn. I hope they take all this very seriously and get back to the level of dependabilty and service they used to be known for.

CSR told me to revoke access to MFP and then reconnect it, now my internet dashboard is missing a day of food intake outright and the iPhone app remains broken-- still importing in food intake well above whats been recorded on MFP.

I am having the same problems as of today when I updated the Fitbit app. MFP is not reporting any of my food to Fitbit and my fitbit steps stopped at 5951 when I have 7084 steps. I have revoked and reconnected the apps. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the fitbit app. I have restarted my phone. Any other suggestions since this is happening with the recent update?

This has been happening a while. I look at my food diary and delete the duplicate entries sent over from my fitness pal. At the moment, fitbit app isn't finding my fitbit one or updating from MFP. usually when this happens, I wait until later and the issue resolves itself.
One observation: if I make a correction in MFP on one of the sections of the food diary, the new meal count usually is picked up as another complete entry. I delete the one that no longer applies. All this is using my android phone app.

I cant speak to the steps being off, mine are fine but with regards to the food incorrectly reporting, I got to the bottom of the issue, but it has to be solved on Fitbit's end and as of yet, they are not admitting there is an issue. If you click into the details portion of your Fitbit log (at least, this was the case with me), you will see that Fitbit is importing both the correct meal overview data from MFP AND additional random food items. So if your meal was 350 cals on MFP, you will see that entry and then you will also see some random add on items, like one entry for 40 cals and another for 130, or something like that. Its a coding issue that relates to syncing or some other element of tech.

Here is an image link showing what I just stated. In one case, you see MFP diary and in the other, what Fitbit is importing, one correct entry, one not.

Wrong link, that one only shows one image. Here is the correct one: http://imgur.com/PYHxJhC,45KWbIv

Thanks for all your responses. I see that a lot of us are having similar problems. I continue to have duplicate meals or just random incorrect calories entered into FitBit. Very annoying. Also, why has there been no response here by a moderator? I see them chiming in on other threads. At any rate, I've written to FitBit customer support, so maybe there will be an answer and maybe even a solution.

Until fitbit gets a fix for the double reporting, I'm manually deleting the outdated or duplicate entries. If we enter our mfp info, and fitbit picks it up before we add additional items, fitbit creates two diary entries. If we correct our mfp diary, a new additional meal total is created by fitbit. Check your food diary when you see an odd total and delete the outdated one. Fitbit IS aware the android app is double entering exercise imported from mfp.

I'm having the exact opposite problem with Lose It! app. It's picking up calories burned from Fitbit and Fitbit is not reading any food/calories eaten. It's a one way sync. I have disconnected and reconnected and even deleted the app and force synced from Lose It! to Fitbit. The problem is totally on Fitbit's side after the update for iOS 6 that's when it stopped working.

Me too. Fitbit suddenly stopped syncing calories eaten from LoseIt.

Thursday December 4, 2014 is the last day my LoseIt food log appeared in Fitbit. Not sure what has happened or why but that feature no longer works for me and I have a premium LoseIt account. My steps however ARE being updated to LoseIt so something is screwy with the meals all of a sudden. Hope they fix this soon

Mine just suddenly started working. Yesterday and today are there (Sunday and Monday) but Friday and Saturday are still missing. Weird.

Fri, Sat & Sun are missing for me but you are correct... today is there.  I did email both Fitbit and LoseIt last night so maybe they've figured out the issue and resolved it.

From LoseIt:

Very sorry for the recent trouble with syncing Lose It! foods to Fitbit. Everything should be syncing as of earlier today.

Unfortunately we don't have the ability to sync you missed days, but, if you go back to a missed day and edit your food log in some way it should trigger a sync. For example, if you go to a day that was missed and add water to the day, the foods should sync for the whole day. You can go back and delete the water if you'd like.

Thanks for letting us know it was not working and sorry again for the downtime!

I got that same message. Interesting that they denied there was a problem, must have received numerous complaints.

I was mistaken about getting the same message, I was seeing this one. But their "fix" didn't work for me to get the missing data.

Just thought I'd note here that my FB has been syncing properly with the MFP data for the past two-plus weeks. I assume that FitBit figured out whatever the problem was and fixed it. Good. However, customer service's communications with me were not at all helpful, which is frustrating. But, at this point, things are working OK.
