Fitbit + MyFitnessPal + UA Record

Hi,

So, I connected MFP to my Fitbit, then connected both MFP and Fitbit to UA Record. In UAR, I even made Fitbit as the priority fitness tracker. I tested and see what's going to show up on my Fitbit Activity in the dashboard if I record my activity (a treadmill mill run) using UAR (without starting an activity on my Fitbit tracker). After the activity, UAR showed a very low calory burn count which MFP pulled and passed to my Fitbit account. There were no steps and distance captured when I checked it in my Fitbit activity log. Since I know the time when I started the activity, I then manually logged it in the activity log. The calory burn count it showed was 3 times more than what UAR+MFP recorded.

I'm not sure where I made a mistake in setting these 3 apps up. Hopefully, someone has experienced the same thing and found where it can be fixed.

I will bring this issue to MFP and UAR support and see what they have to say.

Thanks.

@RoselR I agree with you on the watches. Just like you I wear the Charge HR on my dominant arm and a watch on my non-dominant arm. I like the fact that the HR is comfortable to wear and  you almost don't feel it, but for workout tracking there is nothing better than the Surge. I recommend you to continue both trackers, Charge HR for everyday life and the Surge for the workouts. I personally don't use other applications than Fitbit but then again I use the tracers mostly as HR reference and for sleep tracking so I don't require that much precision.

Let's wait for UAR and MFP response see what they recommend as the are the best equipped to reply on their tracking features.

Hey there! @RoselR. Thank you for letting us know about the interaction between MFP UA record and Fitbit.

I think one of the issues is having 3 different apps sharing the same information. Usually users use one app for food, one for activities, or simply just use Fitbit. Going from one app to the other could cause some information to be lost. Regarding the slow calorie count  I am not sure which application you trust to make the more precise calculation but remember that if you are adding the activity to our Fitbit Dashboard you can always set up a custom calorie burn.

Let me know what MFP and UAR tell you on this.

See you around!

Hi, @SunsetRunner! I have the Surge since its launch and I am quite happy with it -- I wear it almost 24/7. But there are days when I want to wear a 'real' watch. So, a few days ago I got myself a new Charge HR -- wear it on my dominant arm while the real watch is on my non-diminant arm. I am now getting used to it and only remove it and replace it with my Surge only when I am going for a workout. The other day I tried to use the Charge HR on my workout -- pressed and held the button to record an activity. I realized after the workout that I need to go to the web to edit the name of the workout to clearly indicate what I did. I didn't like it! I thought that there must be another way to automatically log the correct activity. That is when I learned about UA Record (I already have MFP before and it is already synced to my Fitbit).

I am still waiting from UAR and MFP to reply to my query.

For now, I'll jjust switch to Surge on my workout and back to Charge HR as my 22/7ish companion!

Cheers!

@SunsetRunner, No response from UAR nor MFP so I guess I can let UAR go and just stick to using "Charge HR for everyday life and the Surge for the workouts".

@RoselR A pity they have not replied yet.

Let's give switching the watches a go, I'm sure it should work out, and it's definitely more practical to start tracking a workout by simply swiping the Surge screen.

Let me know how it works out!
