Fitbit and Finc app integration, safety concern

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I was using an iOS app called Finc,

https://apps.apple.com/jp/app/id965626396

they provide the feature, that I can link my fitbit account, to link step data to the app.

But I am a little concerned about the account safety, cause they let me login through a browser build in app.

Does fitbit still can keep my account info not stealed or readed by the app? Cause they let me login through a build-in browser not through safari.

Do you have any advice with these kind of concern?

Hi @woshahua  I've notified a moderator about your concerns and they will stop by to assist you. You'll know they are a Fitbit employee as they have Fitbit as the last part of their user name and Moderator as their title.

@Odyssey13 Thanks for flagging this post.

@woshahua A warm welcome to the Fitbit Community. Thanks for getting in touch about this.

I appreciate the detailed information you shared and for letting me know the name of the app. There are tons of apps that use our Open API to integrate their service with ours.

Check out Fitbit Privacy Policy here, you'll learn more about the information that Fitbit collects, how we use that information, how information is shared and more.

I'll be around if you have any additional questions.

Thank you very much for your information !

I am not worried about how fitbit treat my information, but the app I use to sync fitbit may have the ability to steal my account info.

I read the document, and found that

iOS applications may use the SFSafariViewController class instead of app switching to Safari. Use of the WKWebView or UIWebView class is prohibited.

And the app clearly not using safari, but the WKWebVIew or UIWebVIew. So it's not safe to authorize through the page provide by the app using WebView ?

@woshahua Thank you for getting back. Since they didn't use Safari as a method to enter your personal info, it's better to contact them for more information about it.
