Fitbit calorie adjustment

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.
My fitness pal has an entry under Excercuse that shows my Fitbit steps count and the calorie amount.
Every since I set up my Surge, the calorie credit is tripled for the same amount of steps with my Flex.
How can I adjust this to the correct amount. I would love to get 1047 calories for 7500 steps but I would gain all that weight back I've worked so hard to lose.
Can anyone help?

Welcome to the forums @userbuf! I am a MyFitnessPal user too and I'll be glad to help on this. Smiley Happy

I've seen this situation happen whenever activities are being logged through the Fitbit Platform as well as the MFP platform; in this case there's a (tacit) rule for logs:

  1. All food and water logs must be done only through MFP.
  2. All exercise and activity logs must be done only through Fitbit.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions Cat Very Happy

Yes thanks, that was a piece of the puzzle. Fitbit never makes it easy. It took a while to figure out my flex.
The missing part was how to enter the exercise in Fitbit!
I was about to take my surge back!!

I did 3047 steps today and my surge gave me 967 calorie Fitbit calorie adjustment on my fitness pal! That's just wrong.
I've gained 8 lbs since Xmas with this **ahem** thing. I have deleted the account and brought it back, same results.
My flex does the correct calorie adjustment, the surge, not even close.
So what do I do?

It's great to see you around the forums @Triciapop3! Is your Surge paired to a MFP account? Do they both have the same Food Plan settings?

In this case I recommend to check the settings on your Food Plan page. Smiley Happy

Usually we see such caloric difference whenever "Personalized" mode is active on your Food Plan, what this does is use your past history to grant calories for the following day. It's best to leave your Calorie Estimation under "Sedentary" which starts low but grants calories throughout the day. Go to your Food Log page and click on the blue gear where the calories are granted, click on "Sedentary".

Nevertheless, it's best to check your basic settings on the Surge as well, for any weight, height and stride length information that we might have been missing and it's giving out default results.
