Fitbit is counting drumming on myself when standing as steps

Anything I can do about this, aside from ceasing drumming on myself (which isn't possible, been doing it for decades)? I might have to take it off most of the time and only wear it when intentionally trying to count steps from workouts + longer walks if there's no way to pause/resume the pedometer. I have a tendency to drum on myself with or without music playing when alone, I got at least 1k steps counted from drumming today and I didn't have a lot of time to myself. Some days I can 100% see myself hitting the 10k step target from drumming alone.

Also do steps count towards the burned calories counter or is that bpm based?

Hi @hulmut89 these are wrist based devices and each movement of our hands will count as a step. People who knit, sign ASL or play the drums will have a higher step count. If you're pushing a stroller or shopping cart, holding something close to your chest or put your hands in your pockets, the steps aren't always counted. The only solution would be to substitute an activity for those unwanted steps - click to learn how.

Yes, steps will count towards burned calories. BMR - click to learn more. The Fitbit knows once you set it up that you're breathing, even if you're not moving.

Stepping in the U.S.A. since September 2013. Android 14
