Fitbit not syncing with 3rd party apps as of 10/1/2024

I initially came into this forum to try and figure out why my fitbit app didn't sync.  I followed the steps, and then lost access to my fitbit (it was accidently turned off permanently on fitbit side) but it was finally reset.  I go back in today and have over 5000+ steps...yet 3rd party apps i sync with show 15.  I noticed another post that shows this was a known issue between late August (which is when i noticed it quit syncing with 3rd party apps) but indicated it was fixed mid to late september.  However, mine isn't working yet.  Any help appreciated?  The apps was just reconnected again yesterday so yesterday evening it still did not sync to the steps shown (over 10,000 steps..it showed like 200 to the 3rd party app).  I'm noticing this behavior with multiple 3rd party apps.

To add to this issue - we've started a step challenge at work - several of the people use Fitbit - EVERONE who uses Fitbit Charge 5 - it's not syncing to any third party apps.  Have tried several - all are hundreds if not thousands of steps short in the auto sync between Fitbit and the 3rd party apps.  Any suggestions would be appreciated - but have tried to disconnect, reconnect, remove all third party apps / readd- to no avail.

HELP - we are ALL having to manually report everything...

I have been having this issue with my Fitbit Versa 4 since switching over to Google. It no longer synchs with AARP rewards. I talked to someone at AARP and they credited me one day's worth of steps, but it still doesn't synch. Seems like it is a Fitbit/Google issue. Wish someone would take ownership and fix this, and I don't think it is AARP...

Have you tried a different tracker other than fitbit with the other apps and it’s worked? At this point were just looking for a tracker that works and syncs so curious if you’ve tried other non fitbit/google devices with success?

Hello, I recently encountered an issue with the integration between Fitbod and Fitbit. According to a response from Fitbod, while they continue to sync workouts with Fitbit, a change on Fitbit’s end has resulted in Fitbod workouts no longer auto-syncing under Fitbit activities. This affects the seamless tracking of my workouts, which is an important part of my fitness routine.

Not sure if this will help but i finally was able to get my 3rd party apps to 'read' the fitbit data (at least for day 1 since did this yesterday)...this is what i had to do.  Disconnect the 3rd party apps completely, delete, re-add, etc.  (standard stuff)...BUT before reconnecting them i literally put a request into Google to provide me a complete extract of ALL my fitbit data.  ONLY when that was delivered, did i then reconnect my two third party apps (The Conqueror Challenge and StrideKick) and miracle of miracles, they now BOTH get the Fitbit data again auto synced real-time  after not having that work since August 31st.  No clue why that worked - but pretty sure this shows it had to be something on Fitbit end...anyway - worth a try.  I'll come back and post if it stops again but i'm just happy to see the steps in sync after almost 2 months of not synching.

Thanks for the tip! How did you put in a request to Google to provide you a complete extract of ALL of your fitbit data?

Sorry for delay I just wanted to be sure my device kept synching since I’ve done this and so far so good. The one thing I will caution this seems to have fixed my steps synching issue with 3rd party apps.  However distance itself still doesn’t sync but my understanding based on other posts is that is a known issue Fitbit has been tracking.

to make your request all you have to do is go into Settings in the Fitbit app and select Manage data and Privacy. It will bring up another screen that has an Export your data Option. When you select that option it should bring up a page where you can select the data to export. I believe it defaults to all data but you can uncheck everything but FitBit data. The list is alphabetical so should be easy to find.

hope this works for you. Good luck!
