Flex accuracy when using MapMyWalk

I have been using my flex since June; I work from home and use it to motivate myself to try to get in 10k steps a day. So at the end of the day when I haven't left my house and it reads < 3k I kind of expect that. Today I synced with MapMyWalk and walked 3.58 miles; MapMyWalk also gives a step count. MapMyWalk 3.58 mile work out and 15,651 steps end of day. My Fitbit registers 7327 steps and 3.25 miles. Why the drastic difference? Not sure how happy I am with this device.

@TiffMStew If I take your numbers and work it out, MapMyWalk gives you 1.2 feet per step and Fitbit gives you 2.34 feet per step.  What did you enter as your step length in Fitbit?  Fitbit calculates distance by multiplying your stride length by the number of steps.  I don't know how MapMyWalk does their calculations.  The Fitbit distance is close to the MapMyWalk and the error is likely from actual vs the inputted stride length.  I think you will have to decide based on the numbers which one is closer to reality.
