How do you sync, myfitnesspal, lfconnect, and fitbit together

I use Myfitnesspal as my primary database (preferred by my dietitian and due to prior use).  I have successfully configured it to receive data from my fitbit account, and the steps do show up in myfitnesspal.  However, I noticed that my Fitbit (a Charge 2) is not accurately tracking my steps on the treadmill or ellipitical, so I am using LFConnect to retrieve the information and sending it directly to Myfitnesspal as well.  My question is by doing it this way am I double counting steps?

Should I have LFConnect send the data to Fitbit and then have Fitbit be the only account sending data to Myfitnesspal?  Has anyone attempted this?  What was the approached used?  How does Fitbit handle data from LFConnect?
