How to use Strava, MyFitnessPal and FitBit HR & avoid doubling?

I'm not quite sure what is the right way to use my FitBit with Strava and MyFitnessPal.  I like Strava for tracking my runs using GPS on my phone and currently I start my run with Strava, then I also push the button on my HR to get it to track my activity.  My Strava and Fitbit accounts are linked and I also use MyFitnessPal

When I'm done it kind of looks like I have two different events logged in my dashboard.  Interestingly enough, neither says Strava.

I also have Strava and MyFitnessPal linked to each other.

I think I might have created some kind of weird circular loop with all these apps linking to each other.

Anyone using this combination of apps and can give me advise on the best way to set it up and use it?

It's great to have you here @farrsight! It's fun to use other third party applications to track your daily activities, however, it can be a bit confusing specially if you have them linked to each other. My recommendation is to log your activities using only one of the apps, in this case you can use Strava since you mentioned you use GPS for tracking and you can use MFP to log your food.

So you can have a better idea, this is how each one of the apps work:

MyFitnessPal

What syncs?
Fitbit > Steps > MFP
Fitbit > Calories > MFP
Fitbit > Aria measurements > MFP
MFP > Logged food > Fitbit
MFP > Activities > Fitbit

Strava

Thanks  for this. So if I understand correctly. My best recipe for this combination of apps is:

Fitbit <---> My Fitness Pal (MFP)

Strava <---> Fitbit

And disconnect Strava from MFP so it doesn't double activities.

I assume any data from Strava that makes it into Fitibt will eventually funnel through to MFP?

Should work, though another route would be to skip the Strava<-->FitBit connection and use MFP as the conduit. Here's a really good article on this:

Good luck!

That would be right @farrsight. What @zoinks recommends makes a lot of sense and it's an easier way to have all of your data registered in the correct apps and not get confused with how it shares the data.

I hope this helps for you. If you have any other questions or comments, feel free to post back. Smiley Happy
