I found an old thread saying that you can't use Fitbit with a Samsung Galaxy watch 5

Is this still true?? 

I just want to join step competitions with friends and I'm locked out by apple and not Fitbit. 

Is this because Fitbit and doesn't want to synchronize with samsung? Or is it because Samsung doesn't provide an api?

Is there something that might change in the future? Am I wrong? Is it actually possible to synchronize?

I can't seem to edit my post for some reason, but if it's not clear I'm saying that I can't seem to join competitions with people using Apple watches or people using fitbits. 

Why does everybody have to have their own ecosystem?
