Many erroneous steps appearing on my account from LFconnect

We are aware that some users are seeing thousands of extra steps appearing on their account this morning. At this time, we believe the issue is caused by a third-party app called "LFconnect" by Life Fitness. This app is creating many erroneous activity logs, which result in the appearance of these extra steps.

At this time, we'd recommend disconnecting this app under the Applications tab of your Dashboard settings and manually removing the logs that appear on your Manual Logging page.

We are working with this partner to make sure the issue is resolved as quickly as possible, and will update this thread when we believe it to be working normally again.

10/20 Update: Life Fitness has acknowledged the issue with their integration, which is resulting in many extra steps. They have disabled the integration, so that no workout data should currently be transmitting to Fitbit accounts at this point. They plan to release a full fix by tomorrow, October 21st, after which normal integration behavior should resume.

At approximately 8 am 10/19/15 both my wife's and my Fitbit one added 30,000 steps. Then we noticed that high numbers of steps had been retroactively added Friday, Saturday, and Sunday that were there prior to this morning. What is going on?

I was sitting at my desk this morning, having just gotten out of bed, gone downstairs, prepared breakfast, and returning to my desk. Imagine my surprise when my Fitbit buzzed to inform me I'd passed 35,000 steps.

I looked at my Activity, and it showed periods of intense activity between 10 PM and 4:30 AM. I went to bed around 9:30, read for about 1/2 an hour, and was asleep until 6:30 am, with one trip to the bathroom around 3 AM.

I am not a sleepwalker, much less a sleep marathoner. I was wearing the Fitbit last night as I always do and it has never done this before. It's reasonably new, having just been replaced under warranty a couple months ago.

I count either mechanical malfunction or that my Fitbit got up and did calisthenics without me.

The same happened to me ..... I woke up to a message of being an overachiever!!  Yay!  But then I saw over 32,000 steps and over 25,000 steps were added to yesterday's total.

I'm seeing several comments of this type so I suspect something went wonky with the software.

But hey, it might be a good day to start a work week challenge!!  🙂

Same here.  Had 32,000 steps overnight.  Tried several times to reset befor going out for my walk.  Anyone have any thoughts on how to reset/reboot.  Also, how can we adjust our Dashboard?

Hello - From this morning (Monday EST Time)) my fitbit Surge shows steps that I did not take. This also increased steps for my last Friday and Saturday which I did not take. For example, I do not wear Fitbit when I sleep. But, it showed today that I walked 26000+ steps when I was sleeping. What is going on please? I went and checked to see if there are any other devices registered using my email id. I did not get any such emails for such registration plus my settings show I have only my device registered to my account. Can FitBit please help resolve this mystery?

Mine added not only steps and biking while I slept, but activity in the Future too...!  So not only did I sleep walk/bike, but apparently I'm a timelord as well.

Thank you folks for making me feel I am not alone in this. I am on call with Fitbit Support. The first solution they gave me is to delete those activities that logged. I showed my frustration to them stating thats not a real solution and asked I need to know root cause analysis for this. In fact, it logged many acitivities while I was sleeping as biking, run and walk with a different timezone than mine. I told them to look at the different timezone it logged those activities. I am mostly worried about security breach or someone using the my id by mistake or knowingly. Or Fitbit has a flaw that caused others activities to get accumulated under mine. This is the most serious issue where my fitbit surge device as well as dashboard shows incorrect info and activitiies that I did not undertake. Hopefully someone at executive level at Fitbit realizes that this is a serious issue and let us know what happened. I am being kept on hold now by Fitbit for further analysis when I told them back I need this to be looked into it further.

Having the same problem over the last few days.  How can we fix it. I'm at 35,000+ steps with most of them when I was sound asleep.
