Many erroneous steps appearing on my account from LFconnect

We are aware that some users are seeing thousands of extra steps appearing on their account this morning. At this time, we believe the issue is caused by a third-party app called "LFconnect" by Life Fitness. This app is creating many erroneous activity logs, which result in the appearance of these extra steps.

At this time, we'd recommend disconnecting this app under the Applications tab of your Dashboard settings and manually removing the logs that appear on your Manual Logging page.

We are working with this partner to make sure the issue is resolved as quickly as possible, and will update this thread when we believe it to be working normally again.

10/20 Update: Life Fitness has acknowledged the issue with their integration, which is resulting in many extra steps. They have disabled the integration, so that no workout data should currently be transmitting to Fitbit accounts at this point. They plan to release a full fix by tomorrow, October 21st, after which normal integration behavior should resume.

Hello, all! Somethng odd happened last night... Fitbit engineers are aware and are looking into it. Meanwhile you can delete those extra steps by logging "driving". Instructions here: http://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/Can-I-delete-data

Surge ADDING Steps, Miles, Activity Minutes, and is also READJUSTING PREVIOUS RECORDS.

My Fitbit has recorded that I walked nearly 40,000 steps today while I was asleep. The Tracker has also backtracked and adjusted my records of Oct 14-18, by adding thousands of additional steps; hundreds of activity minutes; and several miles that I didn't perform.

Last night, I had been sitting down reading for at least a couple of hours, when a little after midnight my Surge buzzed a notification that I had just completed 10,000 steps. I thought that was odd, but I didn't check the Fitbit app or my watch. When I woke up this morning, my Surge showed that I had taken 39,800+ steps, and my 7-Day-Steps total had jumped from 57,000+ when I checked it around 11:35 last night to 173,000+ when I checked it this morning. I went from 3rd to 1st Place in our group—all while I was sleeping.

So far, without even stepping 0.75 miles today, I've already racked up 19.9 miles, 39,827 steps, and 323 active minutes.

I called Customer Service and after 30 or so minutes they were able to reset and remove all the activity I did not do.  They had my correct data it just took alot of trouble shooting to fix. Smiley Happy

Folks - Please check out this solution: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Third-Party-Integrations/Many-erroneous-steps-appearing-on-my-accoun...

FYI - I do have LF Connect App but I have never synched any data from LFConnect to Fitbit. So, I will try removing the LFConnect app from both my smart phone as well as from Fitbit (if I could see it there).

Please check and confirm if you are all having LFCOnnect too that may have caused it.

I'm glad to know the problem has been identified. However, there are hundreds of manual entries going back several days (Oct 14-19). This will take a long time for users to delete. Any chance this can be done on the Fitbit side rather than making users do it themselves?

I notice there are also a lot of activity record entries dated prior to Oct 14 and it is very rare for me to enter anything manually. Lots are blank, 0 time duration, 0 steps. Was something happening prior to the 14th?

My problem got resolved. This is what I did:

1. Removed LFConnect App from my smart phone (not needed but a precautionary step)

2. In Fitbit Dashboard settings, under Applications - revoked access granted to LFConnect.

3. Manually deleted all the activities from today to past few days that were posted by LFConnect. Use the Log option on Dashboard to go and find those activities. It was easy to identify for me as the activities posted were under Bike and Run categories. I did not do both for the last 1 week. So, went and removed them one by one. Yes, this is a manual and time consuming process.

3. Synched the Fitbit with Dashboard.

4. The step counts for today and previous days went back to correct values.

@mitogirl Since these logs were created through the app integration, I don't think there will be an easy way to automatically remove them - but I will relay that request to see if there's anything that can be done.

@Suemcgill Removing the integration should prevent additional unintended logs from appearing, but you will need to manually remove those erroneous logs on your Activites Page in order to see your step count corrected.

Yes I know what you mean.  I had this happen only lately with the Charge HR - I sent a message and they say to check FAQ's with sensitivity etc.  We've had our Charge HR's for awhile and have had no problems whatsoever.  All of sudden we're suppose to do our sensitivity for sleep?  I don't think so.  It's got to have something to do with an update they did or whatever. I had 60 steps when I got up once in the middle of the night.  Then upon waking it was 36,027.  The other days it happened during the timeframe that I got up and the time I went to bed, not when I got up.  Something else is wrong and I'm just thinking it isn't our sensitivity for sleep  But that's what they're blaming it on.

Odd thing happened.  My husband and I woke up this morning and our fitbit one's showed 32,000 steps began to log in after midnight AND it suddenly added the same for Fri and Sat. nights not just Sunday night.  So all day we are adding yet more steps. When I chatted w/the company, they said to hard reset, which we arleady did.  STILL have all those steps.  Then said it might go away at midnight when it resets.  Now we have 3 days of incorrect step data and to remove it you have to go into each time period in your log and change to "driving"...Really??? That's a pain.  Anyone else have theirs suddenly add steps today?  Wonder if a glitch or a hack?  Will see what happens in the morning.

YES!  I have thousands of hours for Friday, Sat, Sunday and today!  What is going on?

I have the exact same problem. It looks like it might be a problem syncing with MyFitnessPal, since the exercise names match entries in their database. I uninstalled and reinstalled both apps, and now MyFitnessPal will not allow me to add FitBit sychronization. I'm not sure on whose side the errors are coming from.

What's the status on the fix?  Can I use the LFConnect app sync yet?
