Many erroneous steps appearing on my account from LFconnect

We are aware that some users are seeing thousands of extra steps appearing on their account this morning. At this time, we believe the issue is caused by a third-party app called "LFconnect" by Life Fitness. This app is creating many erroneous activity logs, which result in the appearance of these extra steps.

At this time, we'd recommend disconnecting this app under the Applications tab of your Dashboard settings and manually removing the logs that appear on your Manual Logging page.

We are working with this partner to make sure the issue is resolved as quickly as possible, and will update this thread when we believe it to be working normally again.

10/20 Update: Life Fitness has acknowledged the issue with their integration, which is resulting in many extra steps. They have disabled the integration, so that no workout data should currently be transmitting to Fitbit accounts at this point. They plan to release a full fix by tomorrow, October 21st, after which normal integration behavior should resume.

I'm sure this is a server issue and would think they know about it. A few Facebook groups have posts about the same issue.

Mine did something similar today. I have a walking boot on with a tendon injury so i have sat most of the day. It says i ran 17 miles at a 15 min pace. Pretty sure thats way wrong. I sent an inquiry waiting to see what they say. Ibe had mine for almost 2 years now.

Yes, the plot has thickened somewhat since I posted....there are a LOT of
activities in my blog that I did not do! Bicycling, walking in
place....literally constant activity. I am not sure if it is originating
with Fitbit or with MyFitnessPal that I use to log calories. I changed both
passwords just in case.

I encountered same problem with my Fitbit Surge and posted about it in a topic under the Surge Product. I am waiting for Fitbit Customer Support to call me back with their analysis. They took my cell number in the morning.

You're welcome @Julia_G 🙂 It appears like activities were logged for some reason causing to add the extra steps. As soon as I get any update on this, I'll let you all know!

I had 57,000 steps this morning when I woke up.

I contacted support and ask them to clear my dashboard.

I was told, no because the engineers are working on it.

I was in a challenge that I had to drop out of, I didn't think it was fair to have that many steps!

Ihave just discovered this issue now.  My Surge is currently showing 49k+ steps, when I should be around 6k.  what is also confusing is that on Saturday and yesterday it registered the correct amount of steps at the time, but is now showing very elevated steps.

I wish I could get more than 50k steps in one day! I thought I was doing well on Sat getting over 20k (this is an accurate count).  I'm not sure why it is retrospectively adding steps while I was resting 😕

Hello, all! Something very odd went on last night and some people got lots of extra steps. Fitbit engineers are aware of the issue and are looking into it. Meanwhile you can get rid of the extra steps by logging "drving". Instructions here: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-HR/I-ran-a-cross-country-marathon-lastnite/m-p/991351#U991351 . Hopefully it will all be back to normal tonight!

I believe several people have support tickets submitted and they (Fitbit) are looking into the issue. I'm charging my flex now to see if I have the same problem.

Hi!

Would love a solution to this problem!  I had over 32000 steps when I woke up and my FitBit was just sitting on my dresser!!!

At approximately 8 am 10/19/15 both my wife's and my Fitbit one added 30,000 steps. Then we noticed that high numbers of steps had been retroactively added Friday, Saturday, and Sunday that were there prior to this morning. What is going on?
