MyFitnessPal and Fitbit calories questions

Hello all!

I've got 25 lbs to lose. I'm 5'2", 155lbs and am moderately active between my workouts and being on my feet for most of my work shift as a cashier. My BMR is around 1500, TDEE ~2300. I am hoping to lose 1.5lbs/week.

I had planned to do a strict 1400-calorie diet, and have my FB synced with MFP, but I'm considering going the route of eating calories based on how active I am during the day. My main method of working out (walking) is logged via FB, while MFP does the rest, including pulling my steps from FB.

My questions are:

1. Can I do that with my FB and MFP synced?

2. If I were to go that route, how many calories should I enter into MFP when I change my calorie goal?

Thank you!

Hello @bruinsgirl33.

You can absolutely do that, as long as you burn more than you consume you should be loosing weight no problem.

As for your second question, I'm not sure I understand it. How many calories in relation to what? If you are asking about specifics regarding how many lbs you want to lose a week, I'm afraid I'm not going to be very helpful. I'm sure there is someone around that can answer your second question.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you for answering my first question.

With regards to my second question, let me clarify. In MFP, usually we have to enter a set amount of calories we want to consume each day (e.g 1200 a day, 1400 a day, etc).

If I'm eating a different amount each day, how would I set up my MFP profile so the MFP app knows this and doesn't think I'm over?

Hello @bruinsgirl33.

Thanks for that clarification. I'm afraid I cannot answer your question in that case. Since this would have to be setup on MFP, and Fitbit and MFP are separate entities, I wouldn't be able to answer. You should bring this up with them directly and I'm sure they will give you a straight answer.

Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
