Fitbit Update 10/29/2015: As this issue has now been resolved, I am closing the thread from further discussion.
Thank you to everyone who reported this issue and for your patience while we worked to get it resolved. Happy to know that your food logs are back to normal!
Fitbit Update 10/25/2015
Syncing food from MFP to Fitbit is now back to normal. Thank you again for everybody's patience while this problem was being worked out.
Fitbit Update 10/22/2015: MyFitnessPal is aware and has added this to their known issues page. Fitbit and MyFitnessPal are closely working together to get this issue resolved ASAP.
In the meantime, a workaround to try is to manually delete the duplicate entries from your Fitbit Food Log. In order to delete duplicate entries, do the following:
Another option is to unlink your MyFitnessPal account from your Fitbit account and checking your calories on MFP until the multiplying issue is fully resolved!
Thank you for your continued patience as we work alongside MFP to get this issue resolved!
Fitbit Update 10/21/2015: Some users have reported that their MyFitnessPal food log entries are being multiplied on their Fitbit Food Log.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but Fitbit and MyFitnessPal are both aware of the issue. We are currently working on resolving this issue with MFP's help. MyFitnessPal has also posted an update here as well. I will share updates here with everyone when I find out more! Thank you for your patience!

The past two days, I have logged my foods in MyFitnessPal as usual. When I sync my FitBit at the end of the day - my calories are way over what I have consumed. The numbers do not match between the two programs at all. Help please. This is frustrating and not very motivating to stay on track. Thanks for any assistance anyone can give me.

Every edit of the MFP food intake ends up sending Fitbit a new set of data with the new calorie total. It started three days ago, so whatever chnaged three days ago on whichever site is the culprit. Either Fitbit is not checking for the latest timestamp and accepting that as the current (definitive) value or no timestamp is being sent with the linkage so that it just looks like a new entry.

Hi everybody,
I just merged a lot of posts from the iOS forum into this thread about food data syncing incorrectly from MFP to Fitbit. This is a known issue and a resolution is currently being worked on. Either @ErickFitbit or I will be sure to post updates in this thread as we receive them.
In the meantime, I would recommend checking out this thread's lead-in post for a temporary workaround while a long-term solution is being worked out.

I'm having the same problem. I just noticed it yesterday. It looks like the fitbit app is creating a new summary for each item in the meal, which adds the new item to whatever has previously been added. For example: If I had 3 things for breakfast: a 200 calorie item, a 50 calorie item, and a 100 calorie item, it would look like this:
Breakfast Summary: 200 calories (the 200 calorie item)
Breakfast Summary: 250 calories (the 200 calorie item + the 50 calorie item)
Breakfast Summary: 350 calories (the 200 calorie item + the 50 calorie item + the 100 calorie item.
for a total of 800 calories, when it should only be 350.

I have had no issues until the last three days. HUGE calorie inflation. Doesn't matter if I pull it up on my phone or online. According to fitbit I ate 9000+ calories yesterday and 5000+ so far today. These numbers do not add up to what I have been logging in to MyFitnessPal which was 2600 yesterday and 1100 so far today. Why?
