I don't need help, but I thought I might be able to help others!
After reading a thread regarding the issue of MFP only showing option for 'update' and not 'connect' (thread now has replies off), which had no real solution, I found my own! I logged into myfitnesspal.com on my phone & was able to successfully connect the two apps by the website instead of the app.
