Need Advice - Dissatisfied & myfitnesspal / endomondo confusion

Hi all. First post to the Fitbit community forum. I have visited here to learn more so it is an excellent resource.

This may be an odd question, but are any of you also just dissatisfied with your Fitbit? Let me explain. I am a long time user of myfitnesspal and endomondo. I was excited to integrate once I purchased but quickly backpedaled after seeing the train wreck it caused with double entries and this an that. So I now have endomondo connected to Fitbit and myfitnesspal connected to Fitbit but not all together. It's somewhat cleaner but still I don't get a daily post to MFP saying I exercised or even what that exercise was. Important mainly because it is an online health journal. Anyway, I'm an avid biker and ride stationary when weather doesn't permit which Fitbit is of no help with.

Another instance is when I took a run last week and somehow logged 86 flights of stairs while running on pavement because of atmospheric changes!? (Thanks for that info forum) What may be the final straw happened this weekend. I went on a 14.5 mile hike and tried using the Fitbit to track all of the normal info. With that was using the mileage while on trail. So for instance, when the trail says 1.7 miles you would hope your Fitbit reflected the same, but instead it was 2.8. So in all my 14.5 mile hike was a total of 19.8. Useless. Either my Fitbit blows or its just not for me. End of rant. Can anyone shed any light on this for me or offer suggestions? I'm very close to returning as 150$ is a lot for a step counter that just spits out whatever numbers it likes. Thanks in advance.

In your profile, have you set your height correctly? Fitbit uses an algorithm to determine stride length - sounds like yours may be off. There are articles about how you can also manually adjust this by measuring your stride - you should be able to do a search and find them. I use a stationary bike as well - now that I have the Surge, I can use the Spinning option and track with the Fitbit. When I had my One, I would just put in a manual activity record of biking with the time and distance which my bike recorded.
