Not getting the right calorie amounts from MyFitnessPal (started 04/27/17)

Fitbit isn't importing the data properly. I don't understand. It's only importing half my meals, doesn't import my snacks, it's just completely random... Disconnecting and reconnecting the apps fixes it, but it's still a major pain (and it doesn't fix the previous days!).

It started on Thursday.

so as of just a few days ago this feature has been working fine. I have to click on the consumption to see what it is before it updates but that's not biggy.

As of friday(?) the calorie intake that has been logged in MFP is just not syncing; or when it does sync it doesn't sync ALL the calories. I like to have a clear view on if i've been under over or just right throughout the week but because this sync isn't working i'm missing so many cals.

I have tried revoking mfp access with fitbit also (searched for previous problems similar to what i'm having) but it doesn't give me a long term fix.

Please tell me i'm not the only one that's getting this fault u__u

Hello @Francl27, good to see you again in the Fitbit Community. The best troubleshooting steps to try in these situations is to revoke the access of MFP and relink both of your accounts again as you were doing before. In this case if the issue persist the other alternative would be to contact MFP support to learn more about this issue since I don't have reports that this integrations is failing.

See you around and keep me posted how it goes.

Hello, I am also experiencing the same problem of Fitbit and MyFitness Pal not correctly syncing the calories inputted in MFP. In my case, Fitbit is missing the last food added to MFP. For example, if I added six items for dinner in MFP, then FitBit is only receiving the first five of those items, or if one item is added for dinner in MFP, FitBit is not showing any items for dinner at all.

I have reported it in the MFP tech forum.

Will try revoking access and reconnecting.

Confirming that revoking access and reconnecting doesn't fix the problem - the final food item added in MFP still does not sync to FitBit.

Disconnecting and reconnecting works temporarily but as soon as I log food again, it gets messed up again.

Same here, and I have seen a couple of other threads reporting this problem.  Looks like it started Thursday or Friday last week for most of us.  Disconnecting from both sides then reconnecting is not helping me with this particular issue.

One thing I have noticed lately, is *how* I input my meals into MFP affects the way it exports to Fitbit, or how Fitbit imports the information.  It *seems* to work if I input the entire meal at one time - not adding anything to it later.  This applies to snacks too.  And...I do it in this order: 1) Input items that may require a search first.  2) Add items from lists other than the "frequent" list, such as recipe you've saved.  3) Add items from the "frequent" list last.

For some reason, the syncing is most quirky if I add an item that has never been input into a meal before.  It appears the item needs to show up on my "frequent" list on MFP before Fitbit recognizes it in the calorie count for that meal.  Hence, when inputting a meal, I add unfamiliar items first, which then appear on my "frequent" list when I go to add a frequent item.

Confusing much?  I would not call this a solution, but it seems to help until this quirk in syncing is resolved.

Hey all,

Thanks for the info. I've been able to reproduce the issue; however, it's not something Fitbit can resolve since we don't own the integration.

I'll contact MyFitnessPal and alert them to this, but I think the best thing to do is to report the issue to them with details and steps to reproduce.

Thanks!

Thanks, Andrew.

There are a number of threads about this on the MFP forums too - one I started is at https://myfitnesspal.desk.com/customer/en/portal/questions/17028313-fitbit-missing-calories-from-myf..., where the MFP agent acknowledges the issue.

Hopefully they will get it sorted soon as it seems to be affecting quite a few users.

As a workaround, I have been manually adding the missing food item/s into Fitbit, so the calorie counts match up in the meantime.

The agent in the MFP thread I shared above has just updated it, saying:

"We did find an issue causing this, and have started receiving elevated traffic on the issue. We’re working on a fix now."

Let's hope it is remedied quickly!

I reached out to them directly with details on what I've observed. Hopefully it helps them out.
