Pros and Cons of using MyFitness Pal with Fitbit Charge 2?

I have been using MyFitnessPal for a little over 1 month. I just got a Fitbit Charge 2. They are compatible, but what would be the benefit for using both apps?

I need to lose quite a bit of weight and need all the help I can get, but it seems redundant to use both. Am I missing something?

Hi, @Jeanettics! Especially if you're using the Charge 2, I would recommend using Fitbit for almost everything. I found that mfp was much more useful for a non-heart rate based device, where you could enter in your exercise on the mfp side.

That being said, most people who couple the two are using mfp for food tracking. They have a much more comprehensive database and are friendlier for doing things like creating recipes and sharing meals between people. I think their breakdown of nutritional information and goals is better, too.

The downside to them is that when you are talking calorie burn, the only information mfp gets from Fitbit is step count.

So, if you're going to use the two, I would recommend using mfp to track your food and doing everything else on the Fitbit side.
