4/7 Update: This should now be resolved, and Facebook integration should now be working normally. If you are still having trouble, please consult this help article for tips on connecting with your Facebook friends. Thanks everyone for your patience while we worked to correct this issue!

4/6 Update: We have a fix in place which will resolve this issue, and it is being prepared to roll out into production. I'll post again once that happens, but it shouldn't be long!

We are aware of an issue preventing Fitbit users from linking with their Facebook accounts, and producing the following error. This may also prevent users from searching for friends via Facebook if their accounts are already linked.

Our team is currently investigating this issue, and we're working to return this functionality to normal behavior. If you see this error, please note that there is nothing wrong with your tracker itself. We'll post another update here as soon as we have news regarding a resolution.

Sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience!

When trying to connect to Facebook with my new FitBit, I get the following error:

Unable to link your Facebook and Fitbit accounts together. Please try again later.

I have tried several times through out the day, even deleting Fitbit from my Facebook access list.  I have tried on my computer and on my smartphone....

Any help???

Thanks!

I am not able to link my Facebook account on the website or app, but when I go into Facebook to view which apps are linked, Fitbit is included. I have tried adding friends by email and not only do they not get my requests--but when they add me I do not get their requests either. Can anyone recommend a solution? This has been going on since I got my Fitbit this past week.

I am also not able to receive friend requests--and when people accept the request I sent them, I don't show up on their friends list or vice versa. Could this be related? Can you help me with this?

Hey there! I have searched and searched the Fitbit forum for hours trying to find this answer with no luck and no solution, hopefully y'all can help!

I purchased my charge HR on 4/1/16 and immediately set it up. While trying to add friends (who have HRs too) I discovered the Facebook app is disabled. When trying to add my contacts via my iPhone's contact book, no one shows up either so I resulted in adding them by their email. They received an email, accepted my invite, and nothing.

When I try to add them again, it says we're friends, but they don't show up on my friends list and I the same for them. Is their a solution for this and how do we go about solving this issue. It's very disheartening to know I can't do challenges with them - when I know they personally can add friends on their end and it works great for them.

I got this e-mail reply today:Hi,   We're sorry to hear about the issue you have been experiencing with Facebook connecting with your Fitbit app.  At this time our Fitbit team it is working hard to solve this issue so we can provide you with a solution as soon as possible.     We apologize for any inconvenience and we appreciate your understanding.Sincerely,  Sue M. and the Fitbit Team

It's a shame that FITBIT can't add this to their known issues/troubleshooting links, as it is clear many many people are experiencing problems and wasting time trying to add people, and leaves it to users to search through many forums with the only answers from other users experiencing issues. An official comment from FITBIT would go a long way in raising my view of their customer service levels right now.  I personally think it's pretty shabby for a known bug, clearly an issue since mid 2015, to be swept under the carpet.......I'm disappointedWoman Sad
I can only suggest that everyone tweets/e-mails the team, as I generally find these large companies respond with far more vigour if they are aware of the scale of the problem, and they will only do that if you "officially" tell them, rather than just comment on a forum.

I cannot connect my Facebook to my Fitbit account either via the app or website. When I first setup my account I connected with my Facebook but now it's not letting me connect. When I try I just get "unable to link Facebook and Fitbit accounts together. Please Try again later." Any idea how this can be fixed?

There seems to be a system wide problem with facebook connections at the moment. I think we just need to wait for fitbit to sort it out.

@jodiek , Fitbit HAVE acknowledged this issue. But it has been reported in so many different threads that it is difficult for a Fitbit employee to answer every instance. The engineers are working on fixing this, but Fitbit never gives firm dates for updates and patches. As it is affecting all trackers on all platforms I think we can be confident that they will be doing their best to get it fixed as quickly as possible.

Hi, @Tracey64 , this has not been an issue since mid 2015 . Although people have had occasional difficulties connecting with Facebook for various reasons, this particular issue is affecting all trackers on all platforms and emerged only a day or two ago. I would expect it to be sorted out very soon.

Hmm, first post in this thread about linking Facebook friends was August 2015, also moderator posted in January 2016...

https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Android-App/Unable-to-add-Facebook-friends/m-p/1134403#M22722

There is clearly a known issue with linking to Facebook and adding friends, I've had my Alta since release 18/3/16, been unable to add since then, first post in this thread was 31/3 (probably after days of struggling)

I'm just after a bit of honesty and clarity, and suspect I'm not getting it here. Hate being fobbed off, and regrettably, that is my firm opinion now.  I suspect you will need to have the last word however...
