Strava integration - activities not showing in Fitbit

Hi everyone - I linked my accounts on Wednesday and my first two rides recorded in Strava synced without any issues (Wedneday evening, Thursday morning Australian Eastern Standard Time).  I've logged two more rides since then (Thursday evening and Friday monring, AEST) and neither of them have synced to my Fitbit account - I can't see them on the web dashboard or on my iPhone app.  Both of them are showing fine in Strava.

I thought the accounts may have been disconnected so I checked and they show as being connected in both web dashboards.

Has there been any issue with the sync service?  If not do you know of a way to get it working again short of disconnecting and reconnecting the accounts?

Matthew,

I just wanted to let you know that a bike ride I JUST finished about 5 or 10 minutes ago has updated onto my fitbit dashboard. It seems like my band had an issue with tracking my heart rate in the activity details but that's a seperate issue...

Thanks for the help and I'll conitnue to use this thread for any other problems strava related as this was the determining factor in me buying a fitbit.

Best,

Alex

Dis and Re connected this morning, new activity on Strava this afternoon... no sync.

I don't believe it is fixed.

My bike ride from an hour ago is now showing up on Fitbit and it seems to be working.

I am still having the same issue.  Strava activities are not syncing to FitBit.

My morning cycling commute from Strava HAS been synced to FitBit.  I will report on tonights commute home when I get there.  It took less than 50 minutes for the Bike activity to show up on my Dashboard.

how is Strava activity synced to Fitbit for you? Does GPS data show up in Fitbit? Does Strava pull HR data upon sync from Fitbit?

Greetings GoomIce,

There is no heart rate data and there is no GPS data.  The calories burned is neither reflective of Strava's calculation nor my Garmin device that was tracking calories burned and used to upload to Strava.  The active minutes is consistent with both my Garmin and Strava.

In my opinion, the data from the sync isn't very impressive.  Hopefully, this will improve.

While my FitBit profile (and all of my data) have been set to public, I'm not sure if you can see my activity.

So heart rate data in Strava comes from your Garmin device, not Fitbit tracker? Can't see your Fitbit exercise, but from what you say, it's exactly what I expected (and that is very limited functionality of sync).

I upload my ride from my Garmin Edge 510 to Strava.  My Edge 510 uses a chest strap to monitor my heart rate, and it works very well.

I don't understand why you can't see my activities since I have set all of my privacy settings to be viewable by anyone.  On my profile page (https://www.fitbit.com/user/37QKS8) you can see my Bike ride under Logged Activities (which was synced by Strava), but you can't see any of my runs (which were tracked using my FitBit Surge).  I might open a support ticket for this because it seems inconsistent with the settings.

After reconnecting, my run in Fitbit did sync to Strava. Note I revoked access on the Strava site as well as the Fitbit site...not sure if that matters.

@MatthewFitbit  Do you know how often the sync happens? It only sync new activities, but how often does it try?

@MatthewFitbit I still have exactly the same issue with teh integration:  I have repeatedly tried to set up the synch and strava.fitbit.com reports the following message after going through the process or authorising the app each side :

502 Bad Gateway

The server returned an invalid or incomplete response.

Even thouhg the apps show up both sides as "authorised", no data passes in either direction.  Please look into this for me

Mine is working now. The lack of GPS or mapping data is kinda sad... but I guess it's working...

I find that entried tracked via the fitbit app with gps and hr info sync to Strava, but I then have to change the activity type in strave to reflecy that I was cycling.

If I use strava to track my ride then nothing syncs back to fitbit.

If fitbit added a ride/bike/cycle option when tracking via the app then I'd just use the fitbit app, and allow it to sync to strava for the social side of things (segments and KOMs).

Surely fitbit should be encouraging more use of it's app as a gateway for people to then pay for the premium membership.  As it stands at the moment everything just seems to be work arounds and I avoid using the fitbit app as much as possible.

Strava activities are being synced in to fitbit for me.

1) go to strava.com => account settings => apps => revoke FitBit

2) go to fitbit.com => acount => apps => revoke Strava

3) go to strava.fitbit.com, click "yes, yes, yes, ok, continue" (whatever) ... this will re-add strava to fitbit and fitbit to strava.

...record rides in strava and they're showing up in less than 1hr on fitbit.com with heartrate data, etc. which is what I wanted. I don't know about fitbit activities showing up in strava but that's not my concern.

Mine is syncing now.  Fitbit to Strava.  Still need to validate Strava to Fitbit.  But Strava is displaying all of my information that I thought was lost between 5/13 and now.

Thank you!!!

Thank-you for your support in this matter @MatthewFitbit.  Things seem to be syncing as advertised.  Also, the heart-rate data has been updated for my activities that were synced from Strava.

After disconnecting and reconnecting my Strava rides are now syncing to fit bit so I'm happy again.  Thanks for the updates @MatthewFitbit.  Its also a lot quicker before than it was initially, 10 minutes or less to sync rather than about an hour.

My bike ride synced from Strava to fitbit, but there is no map and no heart rate data. I use chest strap for heart rate with strava. It's working, but showing only calories and time. I hope it'll show map and heart rate some day

I'm a little bit frustrated about calories burned which are showing in fitbit. According to Strava i've burned 169 calories for 25 min bike ride. This ride was synced to Fitbit and Fitbit shows that I've burned only 82 calories. Fitbit also counts steps for the bike ride, maybe it then counts average calories burned. How does it work with calories burned? Why does fitbit show less calories for the same ride?
Also i've registered two rides with Strava today and only one was added to Fitbit, i hope it shows later today.

I have reconnected the accounts about 3 times now. It seems to work the first time after connecting then stops again the next day. Something to look into. Also I don't know if this is for another post but I do notice that when I pause my Surge, the paused parts will show up on Strava but not on Fitbit.
