Strava - inviting someone to activity

I use my Fitbit charge 4 to record my walks. It is linked to Strava, so when I get home it syncs and adds my exercise to my Strava page. When I invite my husband to the activity and he accepts it changes the distance and time so we have different data! It looks like we didn’t walk together! Why does it do this?

Through what app are you inviting your husband? Fitbit or Strava? 

Does your husband use a Fitbit or Strava app to record his walk?
